The Effects of the Changes of Religious Thoughts and Implementations on Business

Abstract


The goal of this research is to investigate the influence of one of the external environmental aspects, that is, religious thought, perception and implementation which has been changing through the last decade in Turkey on business. The study used Max Weber’s Protestant Ethic Approach and Gissen’s Structuration Theory as guides. In this research, an external environmental aspect religious thought, perception, and implementation has been taken as the independent variable whereas working conditions and relationships between employees, decision-making processes, working environment design, motivation and performance of the employees has been taken as the dependent variable. Research environment is made up of 96 firms in Ankara that have been operational for at least 8 years. Survey participants have been divided into two groups of owners/managers/directors and employees so that the difference of their perspectives can be seen. At least one owner or top manager and around 20 employees in each firm and in total 1800 personnel have taken part in the survey. Survey data was analyzed using the SPSS 16 program.
